If I Stay (Book)

Hello everyone! Today I will be talking about the book If I Stay by Gayle Forman. While I was reading this book, I couldn't put it down. It has a very entertaining story line and a very interesting point of view. The book was told in the point of view of seventeen year old Mia. Now I know that doesn't seem like a very interesting, but just wait. A very severe accident happened and Mia was in a coma. It's almost like she is a ghost, but she is still alive. Throughout the book, many flashbacks occur and she switches from her normal self to her ghostly presence.  (408 words)

This book is about a girl who is trying to make many choices from her music to her love life. Music has been in her life since she was born. Her parents were very big rock and roll fans and her father even played in a band for a while. Mia chose another route of music and decided she wanted to play the cello, and she is very gifted at it. That is how she met her boyfriend, Adam. He loved to watch her play. He even played the guitar and was in a band. Music is what they claim brought them together. One day, her family was in a horrible car accident and she is left with one, very important choice. If she should stay alive, or not. While she is in her coma, she sees all of her relatives, her best friend Kim, and Adam. All of them want her to stay, but she can't even think about what it would be like to live without her parents and her little brother, Teddy. During her coma, she relives certain memories like her first date with Adam, how her and Kim became friends, and many memories of her family. I don't want to give anything else away, so if you're intrigued read the book!

I very much enjoyed this book and I recommend that you read it. If I have any complaints, it would be the ending. It was a cliff hanger and I absolutely do not like cliff hangers! That is why I am grateful for the second book, Where She Went . I haven't finished reading it, but you can be sure that I will make a post about it in the future. Hopefully this post has persuaded you to read If I Stay. See you soon!
